AV Xpert Support TWI Professional Members’ Day

On 16th October 2024, The Welding Institute (TWI) held its Professional Members’ Day at Granta Park, Cambridge, focusing on the theme "Hydrogen for Power: Materials Behaviour and Associated Challenges”. For this important occasion, AV Xpert was entrusted to produce the event, providing high-quality audio-visual equipment and dedicated technical support, to ensure a professional experience for all attendees.
At AV Xpert, we understand the importance of creating a powerful brand experience, tailored to the specific needs of our clients. For TWI, we collaborated closely with their team to put together a comprehensive event production package, including a custom stage setup, sophisticated lighting design and high-quality audio systems. We also provided a skilled team of on-site technicians to operate sound and visual equipment, oversee the event and ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Custom Stage Design
The stage setup was a key element in defining the atmosphere and visual identity of the occasion. For this event we built a custom stage set, designed to align with the TWI brand and the event’s theme. This included a bespoke truss archway (6m x 2.5m) with white backdrop, complimented with custom banners and lectern graphics featuring the brand logo and colours. Every element of the stage setup was carefully crafted to place TWI’s brand and message at the forefront, ensuring a lasting impression on the audience.
Dynamic Lighting
Lighting plays a critical role in setting the tone for an event, and for the Professional Members’ Day, we delivered a dynamic lighting setup featuring a combination of atmospheric and stage lighting.
To complement TWI branding, we used five lighting bars to illuminate the backdrop with customised colours, creating cohesive and engaging visuals. In addition, two Fresnel Lanterns were strategically positioned to provide focused stage lighting, ensuring that speakers were clearly visible to the audience.
High-Resolution Displays
For the presentations and visual content, we provided ultra-high-definition displays that guaranteed excellent visibility for all attendees. The centrepiece was a 75” 4K UHD Commercial Display, which served as the main screen for the presentation, and to ensure clear visibility for all attendees, we also supplied two 65” 4K UHD Commercial Displays as repeater screens, further back in the room. These displays were seamlessly synchronised using our video distribution systems, allowing every member of the audience to engage fully with the content, no matter where they were seated.
High-Quality Audio
We provided a comprehensive audio setup, including a selection of high-quality microphones, integrated with our sound system via our digital mixing desk, to deliver crystal-clear audio throughout the venue.
This included four Audio-Technica Wireless Handheld microphones and two Audio-Technica Cardioid Gooseneck microphones for use at the lectern. The sound system itself featured four QSC K8.2 loudspeakers, controlled through a 16-channel Allen and Heath digital mixing desk. The result was clear, reliable sound that ensured every presentation was heard with clarity.
Event Crew Services
Our dedicated event crew worked throughout the event to ensure every element of the audiovisual setup operated smoothly. From setting up and packing down the equipment to operating the sound desk and managing lighting, our team provided expert technical support throughout the event. They also controlled video distribution, ensuring that content on the main presentation screen and repeater screens was synchronised and always displaying content, including holding slides between presentations. With their expertise and attention to detail, the event ran seamlessly from start to finish.
