At AV Xpert, we believe in building a strong in-house team of capable, reliable and motivated people. We are particularly passionate about helping younger technicians find a route into the AV industry, giving them the opportunity to develop real-world experience, confidence and practical ability through hands-on work.

Alongside our technical team, we also value the people who make everything happen behind the scenes. Operations, sales and business development all play a vital role in delivering successful projects and building long-term client relationships.

We are not just looking for qualifications on paper. We value a good level of practical skills and ability, a genuine interest in audio-visual technology, and the right attitude to learn, improve and contribute to the team.

We are interested in hearing from people who already have a basic knowledge and understanding of AV, whether that comes from education, hands-on experience, or both. That might include a college course, degree, or training in an area such as music technology, live sound, events or production. It could equally come from practical experience as a musician, band member, mobile DJ, venue technician, freelancer, or similar.

Above all, we look for people who are dependable, eager to learn, technically minded, and ready to get stuck in. A positive attitude, professionalism, and a willingness to grow are just as important as existing knowledge.

Our main focus is on building and strengthening our technical team, but opportunities at AV Xpert are not limited to technical roles alone.

From time to time, roles may also arise within the office, including operations, sales, marketing, business development and administration. As the company continues to grow, we want to create opportunities for good people across the business, not just on the technical side.

We are also interested in hearing from experienced subcontractors who may be a good fit for certain projects. While we strongly favour building our in-house team, we also value trusted freelance support and are keen to build relationships with high-quality subcontractors.

While the technical pathway is clearly defined, we also recognise that careers develop in different ways. As the business grows, we expect progression opportunities to continue expanding across operations, sales and business development roles, creating long-term career paths throughout the company.

For technicians, we believe in giving people a clear path to progress as they gain experience, grow in confidence and develop their abilities.

Junior Technician → Supporting the team across events, hires and installations, building hands-on practical knowledge, confidence and real-world experience. You’ll spend time working alongside more senior technicians, while also beginning to take on smaller jobs independently as you grow into the role. A big part of this stage is getting to know the kit inside out, including time in the warehouse preparing equipment with the team, and getting hands-on to properly explore how everything works.

Technician → Taking on more responsibility across events, hires and installation work, with growing technical understanding and independence. You’ll begin leading smaller installations and events, taking ownership of setups, troubleshooting on-site, and ensuring everything is delivered to a high standard, while continuing to build your experience across different systems and environments, with the opportunity to start specialising in areas that interest you.

Senior Technician → Leading the delivery of larger and more complex events and installations, with a strong focus on quality, customer satisfaction and clear communication on-site. You’ll take ownership of projects from a technical perspective, including elements of project management, liaising directly with clients during the planning and delivery phases, ensuring everything runs smoothly. You will also mentor and support junior team members, while continuing to develop your expertise and further specialise in key areas.

Engineer → Our highest technical level, demonstrating a deep understanding of equipment and complex AV systems. Engineers work across both installation and live event environments, handling system design, advanced troubleshooting and specialist technical delivery. This can include areas such as control system programming, system integration and technically demanding production setups. At this level, you will take full technical ownership of projects, including project management responsibilities and direct client liaison, ensuring successful delivery from concept through to completion.
